P-MENT Mupirocin Ointment IP 2% is a topical antibiotic medicine used for the treatment of certain bacterial skin infections.

Mupirocin works by stopping susceptible bacteria from producing proteins required for their survival and growth. It is particularly active against bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes, which can cause common bacterial skin infections including impetigo.

P-MENT is supplied in a convenient 10 g tube and should be applied externally only, according to the advice of a registered medical practitioner.

P-MENT contains Mupirocin IP 2%, a topical antibacterial medicine.

Bacterial skin infections can develop when bacteria enter the skin through small cuts, scratches, damaged skin or existing skin conditions. Symptoms may include redness, swelling, soreness, crusting or pus depending on the type and severity of infection.

Mupirocin acts locally at the application site by interfering with bacterial protein synthesis. This prevents susceptible bacteria from multiplying and allows the infection to gradually resolve with appropriate treatment.

Mupirocin 2% ointment is specifically indicated for topical treatment of impetigo caused by susceptible Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes. Doctors may also prescribe topical mupirocin for other suitable bacterial skin infections depending on clinical assessment.

Because P-MENT is an antibiotic medicine, it should not be used unnecessarily for fungal infections, viral infections or non-infected skin irritation.

Treats Susceptible Bacterial Skin Infections

Mupirocin is an antibacterial medicine that acts directly against certain bacteria responsible for skin infections.

Effective in Impetigo

Mupirocin 2% is indicated for impetigo caused by susceptible S. aureus and S. pyogenes.

Helps Control Infection-Causing Bacteria

By preventing bacterial protein production, mupirocin stops susceptible bacteria from multiplying at the infected site.

Helps Reduce Infection-Related Symptoms

As the bacterial infection responds to treatment, symptoms such as redness, swelling, crusting, discharge or local discomfort may gradually improve.

Topical Application

The medicine is applied directly to the affected skin area, providing local antibacterial treatment.

Supports Healing of Infected Skin

By controlling susceptible bacterial infection, mupirocin can support the skin’s natural healing process.

Use P-MENT exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

For mupirocin 2% ointment, standard prescribing information generally recommends applying a small amount to the affected area up to three times daily for up to 10 days, although your doctor may provide different instructions depending on the condition.

  4. Spread a thin layer gently.
